Four Cover Alerts

First up, there are four new covers that have been swirling around the web that you should know about! Check them out.

My Sister's Reaper by Dorothy Dreyer
Nothing on this one yet as far as summary but we do have a cover to go with. Christina over at A Reader of Fictions said in her Cover Snark post that the model got out of the "K Stew school of acting" which is hilarious! It works too because K Stew is infamous for biting her lip and what do we have here?

In all seriousness, I do actually like this cove. I think the colors are creepy, the splash of blood around the author's name is a great touch as well as the bloody hand prints on the wall. I also like the idea that while she'd looking down as she is going up, the reaper is waiting for her.

My Sister's Reaper is out May 2013.

This Is What Happiness Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
I actually really love this cover. The yellow is so beautiful and mixes really interesting with the black and white on the lake. I love how their hands are combined with a patch of sunlight coming through and then the rest of the sun is drawn in yellow. It's too cute. Perfect for what it's about.

Check out the summaery:
If fate sent you an email, would you answer?
In This is What Happy Looks Like, Jennifer E. Smith's new YA novel, perfect strangers Graham Larkin and Ellie O'Neill meet—albeit virtually—when Graham accidentally sends Ellie an email about his pet pig, Wilbur. In the tradition of romantic movies like "You've Got Mail" and "Sleepless in Seattle," the two 17-year-olds strike up an email relationship, even though they live on opposite sides of the country and don't even know each other's first names.
Through a series of funny and poignant messages, Graham and Ellie make a true connection, sharing intimate details about their lives, hopes and fears. But they don't tell each other everything; Graham doesn't know the major secret hidden in Ellie's family tree, and Ellie is innocently unaware that Graham is actually a world-famous teen actor living in Los Angeles.
When the location for the shoot of Graham's new film falls through, he sees an opportunity to take their relationship from online to in-person, managing to get the production relocated to picturesque Henley, Maine, where Ellie lives. But can a star as famous as Graham have a real relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie's mom want her to avoid the media's spotlight at all costs?
Just as they did in The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, the hands of fate intervene in wondrous ways in this YA novel that delivers on high concept romance in lush and thoughtful prose.
This Is What Happy Looks Like is out 2013 by Little Brown and Company.

Thorns by Kate Avery Ellison
I actually really love this cover. It's simple in a way that draws the eye and I love the tiny specs of snow coming done. It makes me think of the cold, somberness and blue which I think is exactly right.

Here's the summary:
Sequel to "Frost".
Lia Weaver went against everything she’d ever known when she risked her life to help a Farther fugitive named Gabe escape from the Aeralian soldiers, and her life changed forever. And the Frost changed, too—the Farthers have taken over her village, a new group of vigilantes calling themselves the Blackcoats are making plans to overthrow the Farther occupiers, and the Thorns are seeking for her to join them.
Lia seeks to fight back against the evil and injustice that has swallowed up her home, but danger lurks at every turn. The monsters that dwell in the deepest regions of the Frost are growing bolder and more dangerous every day, a Farther noble takes up residence in the village on a mysterious mission, and Lia discovers that her parents were harboring even more secrets.
As the frozen world of the Frost grows even more perilous, can Lia survive?
Thorns is out August 31st 2012 by CreateSpace.

Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black
I think this cover is stunning. This is actually a re-release of the first cover which had a simple tan background. This one makes the red pop so much better and the mist and black adds a lot of intrigue. What really get ms though is the stance of the model. She looks like she is just giving up, hands outstretched and head thrown back as the petals explode off her. Love, love, love it.

Here's what it's about:
Dancing with someone is an act of trust. Elegant and intimate; you're close enough to kiss, close enough to feel your partner's heartbeat. But for Vanessa, dance is deadly - and she must be very careful who she trusts...
Vanessa Adler attends an elite ballet school - the same one her older sister, Margaret, attended before she disappeared. Vanessa feels she can never live up to her sister's shining reputation. But Vanessa, with her glorious red hair and fair skin, has a kind of power when she dances - she loses herself in the music, breathes different air, and the world around her turns to flames...

Soon she attracts the attention of three men: gorgeous Zep, mysterious Josh, and the great, enigmatic choreographer Josef Zhalkovsky. When Josef asks Vanessa to dance the lead in the Firebird, she has little idea of the danger that lies ahead - and the burning forces about to be unleashed...
Dance of Shadows is out January 2013 by Bloomsbury.

So there are the book cover reveals that you need to know about. What do you think of these new covers?

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
