Happily Ever Endings... Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs
Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster.

Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though.

Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they're triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters.
These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.

After finding out that they have another sister, Grace and Gretchen show up on Greer's doorstep and try to explain that they are all descendants of Medusa. Greer rejects this idea even though she had seen monsters when she was little. In an attempt to remain normal, she goes on a date with her boyfriend. Even though Gretchen refused to stay, Grace follows and helps Greer out when a sea snake attacks. Grace and Greer manage to take it down but Greer ends up in the lake and freaks out. She decides she's completely out and wants nothing to do with her destiny and leaves.

Gretchen's mentor contacts Grace by mistake and reveals herself as Euryale. She tells Grace that she has been captured but is okay and that they need to find her sister who at one of the schools in the area. Grace calls Gretchen and tells her. Meanwhile, Gretchen catches a little monkey beast who tells her that not all monster are bad but Gretchen is under too much stress and decides to send it away. Then, she goes to the oracle that told her about her mentor and confirms that she can save her but that it is unknown if she will. Grace goes to school and realizes that Ms. West is actually Stheno when she is able to right a bulky football player easily but doesn't get a chance to speak with her.

Greer sees a beast as her janitor who has always been very kind to her and freaks out. She uses her Medusa born gift (to know things) and finds Gretchen's house just as Grace arrives. The three sisters go out but end up fighting and decide to part ways for good. Grace feels terrible but decides she won't let it happen. To solidify her new confidence, she calls Milo and asks him to go out with her. He agrees and Grace goes in to have a nice conversation with her mom. Afterward, she goes out to take the trash and gets attacked. Likewise, Greer goes home and decides she can't shrink on her duties and decides to make things right tomorrow but is attacked.

Gretchen is frustrated with herself for pushing her sisters away and for caring that she did. She knows she has to make things right but is attacked and outweighed. Her two sisters autoport in the house and together they send the monster back. They make up, wash up and everything feels good to Gretchen as long as she has her two sisters. She gets a phone call from a male voice telling her to get out of the house now and she pushes her two sisters out the balcony and into the water just as the house explodes. Now they have to find Stheno and figure out how to rescue Euryale.

  1. I LOVE this feature! Often I find myself searching the internet, for some sort of summary that tells me what happens in that previous book.
