Book Blogger Hop (7): September 24-27, 2010

The book blog hop is hosted by Jennifer over at Crazy For Books. The idea behind it is to link up your blog and check out others who did the same!

I want to welcome everyone stopping by from the Hop!

I'm a 23-year-old aspiring YA novelist and on my blog it's all about YA novels, writing and movies! I'm really excited to be meeting everyone! Feel free to have a look around my blog!

This week's question:

When you write reviews, do you write them as you read them or wait until you have read the entire book?

I always wait until I've finished the novel and had a day to reflection on what I've read. I need time to gather my thoughts and figure out what I really liked about the novel and some points that weren't as strong. Since I'm a writer, I like to give suggestions on how I might have done it differently or what I think would have made the novel stronger. I do think of things I know I'm going to talk about sometimes if I notice it while reading, particularly if I see a passage to quote.

Please feel free to check out my 100+ Followers contest going on right now! I just added some new things to it!

Want more contests? Hop over to Book Contest Directory for a list of contests going on right now! We'll add your contest there or you can get the scope on active book contest!

Also, I just read The Dark Divine and reviewed it if anyone's interested!

  2. Hopping through. Thanks for hopping by. I like commenting on the writing too in my reviews. As a new writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about what traits the author has that I do or do not want to add to my own stories.

  3. I'm just visiting from the hop and am an old follower. I have to mention it again, but I just adore the colours and theme of your blog.

I like to jot notes as I am addicted to post-it notes and have them everywhere. If that company ever went out of business, I'd probably go into a deep depression (lol).

    Have a great weekend!

Yup, taking notes of important or striking passages also works for me. :)

    Cheers!

  5. You already know I also wait to write my reviews, but. I agree! :] I like to be able to process the whole book before reviewing it so that it gets the review it deserves as a WHOLE book.

    Creative blog you have here!

I wait tell the book is completely finished before I start ranting and raving about it.

  7. Hey Amber! Stopping by from the hop and already a follower of course! ^.~

I also review a novel after reading the book. I can't think how to articulate my thoughts about a novel really quickly, so it usually takes me awhile to think of what to say and how to write it....

Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  9. Hey Amber, just hopping on by! I also like to wait until I'm finished with a book, but then usually I like to write the review quite soon after I finish reading, so I don't forget anything I want to say!

Also, the Book Contest Directory is looking good and I grabbed the button & put it on my blog :D

  10. I think its great that you think of ways it could have been written better. I am sure reviewing other books helps to be a better writer as you notice plot elements that work or don't work.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
