Waiting on Wednesday: Belle Epoque

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you can post about upcoming books you're looking forward to. This is a wonderful chance for blogger to show off what's coming out soon that they are excited about! Every week my wishlist balloons thanks to this awesome meme.

Bella Epoque by Elizabeth Ross
When Maude Pichon runs away from provincial Brittany to Paris, her romantic dreams vanish as quickly as her savings. Desperate for work, she answers an unusual ad. The Durandeau Agency provides its clients with a unique service—the beauty foil. Hire a plain friend and become instantly more attractive.

Monsieur Durandeau has made a fortune from wealthy socialites, and when the Countess Dubern needs a companion for her headstrong daughter, Isabelle, Maude is deemed the perfect foil.
But Isabelle has no idea her new "friend" is the hired help, and Maude's very existence among the aristocracy hinges on her keeping the truth a secret. Yet the more she learns about Isabelle, the more her loyalty is tested. And the longer her deception continues, the more she has to lose.
Bella Epoque is out June 11th 2013 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers.

This one looks so wonderful and I'm in the mood for some period pieces.

What made your list?

  1. Sounds like a great list! I love period pieces too, especially British History. Have your read anything by Alison Weir or Philippa Gregory?

I also love your site. It's SO pretty! New follower via GFC.

    Here's my WOW.

  2. I really like the sound of that as well, looking forward to your review!

  3. Oh man this sounds awesome! I hadn't heard of it before. And I'm totally with you on the historical craving!

  4. Very excited for this one, too! That cover is just fabulous! :D SO long of a wait, though! :(

  5. The idea of a "beauty foil" sounds really fascinating, and I also love period/historical reads. Not too many books have really caught my eye lately, so I'll be excited when this one comes out. Thanks for sharing this, and I hope you score an ARC. :)

  6. Everything about this one appeals to me. I like "plain" friend stories. I'm also intrigued by the era--the Belle Epoque sounds perfectly extravagant!

  7. Am I the only who thinks this sounds like a historical fiction version of The DUFF? I totally want to read it for that reason!

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
