Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.
It stinks that I haven't read this book or it's sequel yet because so many people love this series. I've only heard good things and this is a book I was really anticipating. I'm practically ready to propose marriage to the cover so it's definitely something I need to pick up soon.

What have you had sitting on your shelf too long?

  1. I loved Unearthly and Hallowed (I just posted my Hallowed review today) It's not a long read (plus you won't be able to put it down once you start. I'm working through 2nd books in series for March. I decided I needed to give myself a month to play catch up.

  2. This is a really good series- it's so clever and really emotional. I hope you get to read it soon.

  3. I really want to read this one, too! I keep seeing all these reviews for book 2 and I'm like, "I still have to read book 1!" I hope you're able to get to it soon!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
