Swoon by Nina Malkin
Torn from her native New York City and dumped in the land of cookie-cutter preps, Candice is resigned to accept her posh, dull fate. Nothing ever happens in Swoon, Connecticut...until Dice's perfect, privileged cousin Penelope nearly dies in a fall from an old tree, and her spirit intertwines with that of a ghost. His name? Sinclair Youngblood Powers. His mission? Revenge. And while Pen is oblivious to the possession, Dice is all too aware of Sin. She's intensely drawn to him -- but not at all crazy about the havoc he's wreaking. Determined to exorcise the demon, Dice accidentally sets Sin loose, gives him flesh, makes him formidable. Now she must destroy an even more potent -- and irresistible -- adversary, before the whole town succumbs to Sin's will. Only trouble is, she's in love with him.
What do you do when the boy of your dreams is too bad to be true?
The Tune: Lose Control by Evanescence
The Lyrics:
You don't remember my name.
I don't really care.
Can we play the game your way?
Can I really lose control?

Just once in my life,
I think it'd be nice,
Just to lose control, just once,
With all the pretty flowers in the dust.

Mary had a lamb.
His eyes black as coals.
If we play very quiet, my lamb,
Mary never has to know.

Just once in my life,
I think it'd be nice,
Just to lose control, just once.

If I cut you down to a thing I can use,
I fear there will be nothing good left of you.

I was driving in my car when this song came on. I hadn't thought about it in forever but I started listening to the lyrics and they made me feel a little bit funny. You can tell that Ms. Amy Lee isn't playing nice in this song. A little bit naughty, a little bit playful and a little bit teasing. This is exactly the mood of Swoon. Dice is totally asking these same questions! Can she play Sin's way? Can she give up control of the situation and fall into the pleasure Sin could offer? Plus, he's ALWAYS described as having black eyes which works with the lyrics. I don't think there could be a better song for this novel than if it was written for it!

Is there a song that fits the book you are reading this week? If so, share it with me!

  1. I'm glad someone else makes the connection between music and books. This happens to me a lot, where I hear a song and think of a book.

And always love me a good Evanescence song :)

  2. I love the idea of linking music and books, two things that are very important in my life.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
