Waiting on Wednesday (36): Torn, The Game of Triumphs and Pure

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you can post about upcoming books you're looking forward to.

This is a wonderful chance for blogger to show off what's coming out soon that they are excited about! Every week my wishlist balloons thanks to this awesome meme.

Torn by Erica O'Rourke
Everyone has secrets. Even best friends. Mo Fitzgerald knows about secrets. But when she witnesses her best friend’s murder, she discovers Verity was hiding things she never could have guessed. To find the answers she needs and the vengeance she craves, Mo—quiet, ordinary, unmagical Mo—will have to enter a world of raw magic and shifting alliances. And she’ll have to choose between two very different, equally dangerous guys—protective, duty-bound Colin and brash, mysterious Luc. One wants to save her, one wants to claim her. Which would you choose?
Why I need this: I love the idea of a normal girl facing a world of paranormal with nothing but herself to rely on. Plus, I'm so not over love triangles and I'm interested to meet this two new boys. Let's not forget, that cover is gorgeous! Love the purple and green combo.

Torn comes out June 28, 2011 to Kensington.

The Game of Triumphs by Laura Powell

At an exclusive Soho party one rainy night, Cat stumbles into an ancient and dangerous game of fortune. A mysterious quartet of game masters deal out challenges—moves that unfold in the Arcanum, a dream-scape version of our world. Success can earn players fame, fortune, inspiration. Failure can be deadly.

At first Cat is skeptical, but undeniably curious. And when a journey into the Arcanum reveals a shocking glimpse of her family's past, Cat begins to understand what drives people to play. Sometimes it's greed or longing—other times desperation. She must know more.
Right now, the game masters hold all the cards. But Cat finds others like herself on the fringes of the game. And together an unlikely group of chancers hope to change the rules in their favor.
In the Game of Triumphs, the risks are high, but the rewards may just be worth dying for. . .
Why I need this: This is one of those concepts that doesn't come along very often. I like the idea of a game chance in order to glean information and I'm really interested to see how Arcanum is described. The cover is unusual but I like it because of that.

The Game of Triumphs comes out August 9, 2011 to Knopf Books for Young Readers.

Pure by Julianna Baggott

A dystopian novel about a society of haves, who escaped an apocalypse in a futuristic dome-covered city, and have-nots, who survived the nearly destroyed outside world. The have-nots are almost entirely marked or mutated in some manner.
PURE centers around the story of Pressia, a 16-year-old survivor with a doll’s head fused into her left hand, and Partridge, an unmarked Pure who has escaped the Dome to find his mother, certain that she has survived the cataclysm.
Why I need this: Hello unique concept! A heroine with the head of a doll fused to her left hand. Talk about creepy and awesome! This isn't like much I've read before and I can't wait to sink my teeth into it!

Pure comes out February 8, 2012 to Grand Central Publishing.

So there are a few of the things I'm waiting for. What are you waiting for this week?

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
