Gav's friend Warren comes down with the virus and is admitted into the hospital. Determined not to let him die, Kaelyn dives back into the file room and starts to chart out every little medical notation and is able to figure out that each person that survived the virus got sick with a fever last year. She tells her dad that night whole confides that he knew this all along but that the information won't help them. Kaelyn is angry he didn't share this knowledge earlier though he confuses that he did and it didn't help anything.

Kaelyn and Tessa leave Meredith at the house and go to other houses and the garden store to load up on more supplies. When they get back, their house has been ransacked and the gang has taken everything and destroyed Tessa's greenhouse. Tessa goes in her room and doesn't speak much after that. The power goes out and they are forced to move into Meredith's house who has a generator so that they can boil water and have lights.

Meredith wakes up in the middle of the night and wants a stuffed cat she forgot at the house. Tessa drives and they all head over there. They retrieve the stuffed animal and Quentin tries to attack them because he is sick and wants Kaelyn to tell him how she survived. They get him subdued and bring him to the hospital. The next day, Meredith begins to get sick. Kaelyn decides to take care of her at the house. Gav keeps coming but she realizes he could catch it with Meredith's germs and tells him not to come back. Meredith progresses and they are forced to take her to the hospital. There, she asks her dad to do a blood tranfusion but he refuses. They argue as he is walking her out and they catch the gang trying to set the hospital on fire. The girl hits him over the head with a gas can and kills him.

Saddened by the death of her father, Kaelyn goes out on a cliff with the intention of jumping. There, she realizes she has to go one so she walks back to the hospital and convinces Nell (her father's collague) to do a blood transfusion for Meredith. She gives her blood and they do it. Gav comes and they make up. Kaelyn feels light-headed the next day but Meredith's fever breaks and she might be recovering. that night, Tessa and Kaelyn sit out on the porch and enjoy each other's company. The next day, Kaelyn looks out across the bay and sees the island ferry coming with Leo on it.
