Waiting on Wednesday (41): Born Wicked, Shift and A Touch Morbid

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you can post about upcoming books you're looking forward to.

This is a wonderful chance for blogger to show off what's coming out soon that they are excited about! Every week my wishlist balloons thanks to this awesome meme.

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

Cate Cahill and her sisters are considered eccentric bluestockings—a little odd, a little unfashionable, and far too educated for their own good. The truth is more complicated; they’re witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it could mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave. Before their mother died, she entrusted Cate with keeping them safe and keeping everyone, including their father, in the dark about their powers. When her father employs a governess and Cate begins to receive notes from her missing, presumed-mad godmother, her task becomes much more difficult. As Cate searches for answers in banned books and rebellious new friends, she must juggle unwanted proposals, tea parties, and an illicit attraction to the new gardener. Cate will do anything to protect her sisters, but at what cost to herself?
Why I need this: I love the idea of witchcraft and a period piece and think they blend perfectly together. The stakes seems high-- no matter where Cate turns there are going to be consequences-- and I can't help but love a little forbidden romance!

Born Wicked comes out 2012 from Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers.

Shift by Em Bailey

Olive Corbett is definitely NOT crazy.

Not anymore. These days she takes her meds like a good girl, hangs out with her best friend Ami, and stays the hell away from the toxic girls she used to be friends with.
She doesn’t need a boyfriend. Especially not a lifesaver-type with a nice smile. And she doesn’t need the drama of that creepy new girl Miranda, who has somehow latched on to Olive's ex-best friend.
Yet from a distance, Olive can see there's something sinister about the new friendship. Something almost... parasitic. Maybe the wild rumours ARE true. Maybe Miranda is a killer.
But who would believe Olive? She does have a habit of letting her imagination run away with her…
Why I need this: I'm digging the killer thing lately. This looks like a fun novel with a possible unreliable narrator which amps up the excitement. I can't wait to find out if this is all in Olive's head or if something really is dark about Miranda!

Shift is out September 2011 from Hardie Grant Egmont.

A Touch Morbid by Leah Clifford
The second book in the Touch Mortal trilogy.
Why I need this: I honestly haven't gotten a chance to read the first one yet but I hear so many good things. I'm the type of reader who lies to read series in order so i would like to have the second novel to dive right into. Plus, look at the gorgeous cover!
A Touch Morbid is out  Feburary 2012 from Greenwillow.

These are the books I'm waiting for this week. What about you?

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
