Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!
From Bad To Cursed (Bad Girls Don't Die #2) by Katie Alender
Alexis is the last girl you'd expect to sell her soul for beauty and popularity. After all, she already has everything she needs--an adorable boyfriend, the perfect best friend, and a family that finally seems to be healing after her sister Kasey's unfortunate possession by an evil spirit.
But then Kasey tells Alexis about the mysterious new club she has joined, and the oath she has taken to someone named Aralt. Worried that Kasey's gotten in over her head again, Alexis and her best friend Megan decide to investigate by joining the Sunshine Club, too. At first, their connection with Aralt seems harmless. Alexis tries a new -- normal-- look, and finds herself reveling in her elegance and success.
Still, despite the Sunshine Club's outward perfection, the group is crumbling from within, and soon Alexis finds herself battling her own personal demons. She can hardly even remember why she joined in the first place. Surely it wasn't to destroy Aralt...why would she hurt someone who has given her so much, and asked for so little in return?Click "Read more" to read the ending of From Bad To Cursed so you'll be ready for the next installment of the Bad Girls Don't Die series!
After joining the sunshine club and pledging allegiance to Aralt, Alexis is a full on sunshine girl. But with the disappearance of Tashi, the creatura keeping the book, it seems as if Aralt has abandoned his girl. Alexis tries to get some answers about who Aralt is by talking to Espleth through an Ouija board. Instead of getting her, the board bubbles up with black ooze and jumps into her. Alexis passes out in a cocoon of black and awakes, looking forward to bed and killing her interior family. Kasey is able to find her off but Alexis keeps fantasizing about killing Kasey so she calls Megan to pick her up.
Megan takes Alexis to Lydia's house. Lydia gives Alexis some tea to calm her and Alexis looks at the photos. She sees one of Espleth and finds out that it's Lydia's grandmother. Lydia confesses she is angry with her grandmother for not leaving them money in her will and forcing them to move into a really bad house. Alexis passes out but not before figuring out that Elspeth was trying to warn her not to trust "Me"gan. She awakes tied down and Kasey comes into the room, having newly pledged her allegiance to Aralt.
Alexis knows that in order to reign in Aralt's power, one girl must sacrifice themselves but she is so tired of fighting that she lets Aralt take over. They decide to let Alexis read the sacrifice spell. Alexis sees the one Lydia has marked but looks on the next page and sees one that looks like "Try again" which is what both Tashi and Espleth told her. She chooses to read that which makes them "abandon" their oath to Aralt. Everyone reads along accept Lydia. All the girls start to get sick and Alexis takes Kasey upstairs. Megan attacks them and Alexis has to hit her in the knee, finally breaking it.
Lydia chases Alexis towards a mall beauty shop called "Just Teasin'", another place to avoid according to Espleth. Lydia throws chemicals in Alexis's eyes and the only way to avoid going blind is to take another oath to Aralt. Alexis does and then Lydia summons Aralt, saying he will take care of her. The shadow monster from the woods comes and sucks the soul out of Lydia, but not before Lydia burns the book he was attached to. After they are able to cover up the whole incident, they all attend Lydia's funeral. Alexis looks up and sees a ghost os Lydia glaring at her but she is the only one who notices, confirming that the oath still holds true and that things are far from over.Did I miss something important?
