Divergent Casting News

I've reported before about casting news on Divergent because I am super looking forward to the movie. Shailene Woodley has been cast in the lead role as Tris Prior, the small girl that transfers from Abnegation (who values selflessness) to Dauntless (which values strength).

We're still waiting on Four casting news but I have seen that one actor has confirmed he will not be playing Four.

Alexander Ludwig has Tweeted that he will not taking on the role of Four as he says "it is too much like Hunger Games".

But I have read that other parts have been casted and confirmed. So are you ready to meet more of the cast?

Maggie Q as Tori (a tattoo artist that helps Tris)
I didn't really have a clear picture of Tori besides "tattoos" so I don't have strong feelings about this chioce either way. I think she'll do a great job if they rough her up a little through the magic of makeup.

Zoe Kravitz as Christina (A Dauntless Recruit and Tris's Friend)
This isn't how I pictured Christina at all but I have to admit that I really like the casting for Christina. I haven't seen Kravitz in too much (just X-Men: First Class and It's Kind of a Funny Story) but I think she'll do well in this role.

Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior (Tris's Brother)
I think this is a good casting, especially since he and Woodley (see below) look like they could be related. He hasn't been in anything so I have no idea how good of an actor he is but I'm definitely willing to find out.

Jai Courtney as Eric (Dauntless Leader)
This one really threw me for a loop. I remember Eric being very young so this guy looks a little older than I thought and for some reason, I always pictured him as kind of short and a little bit...less than Four. I guess I pictured him making up for his small stature by being meaner. I hope they'll be able to cast a Four that will contrast well with Courtney. So this is an "if"-y casting choice for me.

Kate Winslet has also been attached to Divergent for a long time on IMDB. I wonder who she might play. I'm hoping it is Tris's mother. I think she'd do that part well.

So what do you guys think about the recent casting news?

Shadowboxes

So you're probably wondering why I've been a little sparse around here lately. There are Other Things but one of the main reasons is because I have been helping my husband build his shadowboxes. We decided to make the trip up to Bronycon in Baltimore as a vendor in August and have been working like we're possessed to build up an inventory. It's actually been a lot of fun but it has severely cut into my reading time (which is okay since I'm not sure I'd be able to read right now anyway).

But I thought you guys might like to see a few we've created. All of them are My Little Pony related because that has been the market that has supported us but keep in mind that we can do so many more things than just MLP.

If you're interested in purchasing one, you can visit the Deviantart page or the shop on Etsy and don't be afraid to ask for custom pieces! You get a free mock-up so you'll know exactly what you're getting. This is the commission info:
Boxes range from $45-$70 plus shipping but the come in frames. Keep in mind that pictures really don't do them justice since the appeal of these boxes is that it makes the photo look like it's popping out and creates shadows.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

As you can see, we've been very busy but we're getting so many commissions in that we've only actually made 10 boxes towards our inventory. It's been so fun helping my husband create his art and I can't wait to set up a table at the convention and talk to people about our boxes. I'll definitely report on that.

In the meantime, if there is something you might like (think Harry Potter, Doctor Who ((PLEASE SOMEONE COMMISSION US FOR A DOCTOR WHO)), Disney princesses or Pixar, Star Trek, book covers, The Hunger Games) let us know or maybe you like to get a birthday gift for a friend.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think of them or if any of you have ever been a vendor at a convention, if you have any tips.

Saturday Discussions: Do You Read When You Are Sick?

So this week has been shot for me because I've been recovering from the cold that has seemed to take everyone. It has left no person I know untouched. But since I've been sick, I haven't even cracked open a book. When I'm sick, even just a little, the idea of concentrating on words makes me feel even worse. I'm not sure if I'm worried I'll get a headache or make myself too tired but I can never convince myself to try.

So I want to know if you read when you are sick and if so, any tips?

I guess I could try audiobooks. When I'm sick I like to hear people talk or watch t.v. or listen to music but I don't like to focus very hard. Wonder if audio books would work for me.

Please sound off!

A (Greek) Fairy Tale in Photos- Hercules

Every Friday, I tell you a fairy tale exclusively through photos but now that I'm bringing it back, we're going to the Greek Gods! Get ready for some good times. Each week is a different theme and I search through Deviantart to find you the best of the best--whether they be pretty or spooky. All are welcome here! None of these photos are mine and you can always find a link to the proper owners underneath the photo in the caption area!

Starting off our Greek Gods/Goddess stint is... Hercules. Check out all the cool pictures and art I found of this epic hunk!

That's it for this week! This was a surprisingly hard topic to find photos for. It mostly brought up aircrafts and baby animals (which are always cute to look at but not right for what I'm doing here). I think my favorites are 13 and 2. Which do you like?

Delirium as a T.V. Show!

So Delirium has been picked up for a t.v show by Fox which is awesome and right now they are knee-deep in casting, giving us loads of casting goodies daily. I thought I'd share some of the news I've been gathering since I've been watching it pretty closely.

First, Lauren Oliver explained that the t.v. show is going to be different than the novel. We will be meeting all of the characters in the first plot and some of the character's role have changed. But have no fear, they want to make for compelling television and a lot of times, that involves changing things to flow better on screen.

They've also announced quite a few character castings. I can't comment on them since I haven't read the books yet (which is very regrettable and something I plan on changing this year) but here is the cast thus far:

Emma Roberts as Lena

I've heard some people are upset about this casting and I'm kind of surprised by this. Everything I've seen Emma Roberts in (Nancy Drew, It's Kind of A Funny Story, The Art of Getting By, Scream 4) she has been wonderful. I actually really like her and think she is only getting better. So I think she is going to do a good job in this role.

Daren Kagasoff as Alex

So I'm not familiar with this actor. I've seen a few episodes of The Secret Life of an American Teenager and really didn't like it but since it's the only thing he's been in, I don't think it;s good enough to judge him yet. He might be epic in this role. I'm willing to wait and find out. I also read on Alice Marvels (an awesome site for book to movie news and other things) that he has been embracing the fandom. A girl tweeted him saying her 18th birthday was coming up and she was considering running into the woods. He replied saying "I'll be waiting" which I thought was super cute.

Jeanine Mason as Hana

This is another actress I'm not familiar with so I looked her up as well. She's been in a lot of things for one episode and is probably best known for her role in Bunheads (which I didn't watch). She'll be playing Lena's best friend. Since I don't know her or the material, there isn't much I can say about this one.

Gregg Sulkin as Julian

Now this name, I've heard of! I know he's been thrown around in several other wishlists for different characters and he's been in a few things I know of. First, he was in The Sarah Jane Adventures which is a spin off of Doctor Who but he was also in Wizards of Waverly Place too and I liked him in that. I'll be interested to see how he'll work for this show.

So there is the casting news. For those of you who have read it, what do you think? I'd also like to hear from those of you like me who haven't read it yet. Stoked or no?
