I hope you enjoy!
After Obsession by Carrie Jones & S.E. Wedel- I love that this cover mimics Ms. Jones' other series in colors and font. The same gold, white and black theme is on all the Need covers so I knew before even reading who this was by that it was one of her books. I love that her black dress is fading out or into creation and the model's relaxed pose is gorgeous. I also really like her hair.
There is a river spirit tormenting a town in Maine. Two teens named Amie and Alan, battle it when it tries to possess Alan’s cousin and Amie’s best friend. After Obsession comes out September 5, 2011 from Bloomsbury.
The Pledge by Kimberly Derting- This cover is just gorgeous! I love that it's mostly black because it makes the model's pale skin and hair stand out beautiful. Even her lipstick is this wonderful pale pink. It's like she's trying very hard to blend in which goes perfectly with the synopsis. Then we've got the outline of the title on the book which also lends to this blending in feel. Amazing cover!
Words are the most dangerous weapon of all.
In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she’s spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It's there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she's never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed.
Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can’t be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country’s only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime.
The Pledge comes out November 15, 2011 from Margaret K. Elderberry (Simon & Schuster).
Still Waters by Emma Carlson Benne- I love covers with water on them and this one is no exception. The soft blue of her dress combined with the pale skin and hair is just amazing. I love that the font matches both her dress and the lily pads and the relaxed pose of the model. She could be sleeping... or something a little more sinister.
Hannah and Colin seem to have the perfect relationship, but as her second-to-last year of school draws to a close and Colin prepares to head off to college, Hannah feels he might be slipping away. She knows they need some real quality time alone if she’s going to hold on to him. So when she finds pictures of his old family lake house, she secretly schemes to get him there. But when they arrive, he’s not thrilled. Actually, he’s totally freaked out. And though she gets him to relax, his behavior become stranger by the day: he disappears for long stretches of the night, has a bizarre breakdown in a nearby diner, and when the car stops running, he seems completely unconcerned about fixing it. The lake house holds secrets, and what Hannah doesn’t know and Colin can’t remember just might kill them both.Still Waters comes out December 20, 2011 to Simon Pulse.
