All I Want For Christmas Is... (8)

This is a great new meme created by Danya over at A Tapestry of Words. Hop over to her blog on Thursdays and join in the fun! The object is to share what you are hoping to find wrapped up in a nice little bow under your tree this year!

You Against Me by Jenny Downham

If someone hurts your sister and you're any kind of man, you seek revenge, right? If your brother's been accused of a terrible crime and you're the main witness, then you banish all doubt and defend him. Isn't that what families do? When Mikey's sister claims a boy assaulted her at a party, his world of work and girls begins to fall apart. When Ellie's brother is charged with the crime, but says he didn't do it, her world of revision, exams and fitting in at a new school begins to unravel. When Mikey and Ellie meet, two worlds collide. Brave and unflinching, this is a novel of extraordinary skillfulness and almost unbearable tension. It's a book about loyalty and the choices that come with it. But above all it's a book about love - for one's family and for another.

How flipping cool does this story sound? It reminds me a bit of a modern day Romeo & Juliet story with two feuding families but you actually get to know why the families are feuding. You can't pick who you fall in love with. I've read a few positive reviews about this one and would love to see it under my tree.

So what do you want?

  1. This sounds awesome! Going to have to add it to my TBR list.

  2. I just ordered this book! I loved Jenny's first novel Before I Die, and can't wait to read this one! :)

  3. I featured this book as one of my WoWs earlier this year - I really like the sound of the tension between these two characters and the concept of romantic vs. sibling love/loyalty...nice pick, hope you get it! By the way, if you'd like to link up on my blog, my post for this week is up :D

  4. I love the sound of this book. Very intriguing, I want to know why the families are feuding.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
