Happily Ever Endings... Illusions by Aprilynne Pike

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

Illusions (Wings #3) by Aprilynne Pike

Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.

But just as life is returning to normal, Laurel discovers that a hidden enemy lies in wait. Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.

Tamani and David finally let their pent up rage out on each other in the middle of the school hallway... with their fists. Though David throws the first punch, Tamani does his part by egging him on. Embarrassed, confused and frustrated, Lauerl breaks up with David and runs out of school to her old cabin. Tamani follows and they kiss. Tamani has Laurel fully to himself for one whole day and he's determined to get that back even if he has to wait forever.
While Laurel is trying to work through her feelings for David and Tamani, Tamani is busy trying to figure out where all the trolls are disappearing. On a hunting trip with Shar, they find the place where the trolls are going... an invisible stretch of land that is magicked though it isn't any kind of magic they know of. Shar uses salt to break the magic and decides to watch over the land instead of attacking. Tamani gives the powder they find hiding the land to Laurel who is able to break it down and figure out what's in it, accept for one ingredient.
Laurel decides to ask David to the winter formal as friends. Cheslea tells Laurel that she is breaking up with Ryan because she wants to be free in case David decides to notice her and Laurel isn't mad because she understands. Tamani is going with Yuki (a faerie that Klea brings to Laurel in the beginning who may or may not be a threat). Laurel figures out the missing ingredient just before the dance... faerie blossoms. Tamani and Laurel connect that Klea could have cut her faerie blossom off to make the magic powder they found at the land and could be using Yuki as a distraction.
At the winter dance, Yuki tells Tamani she is leaving and Tamani gets interrupted by a phone call. Shar says they fianlly attacked the house inside the invisible barrier and found it empty. Laurel notices that Tamani has pollen on his hands, a sign that there is a blossom somewhere. Tamani suddenly realizes that Yuki is a winter faerie has a probably been behind the attacks all along. He tells Laurel to get help and brings Yuki back to his apartment. Trapping Laurel at home, David, Chelsea and Shar hide in Tamani's apartment and trap Yuki in a circle of salt (a trick Shar learned from his Unseelie mother) and remove Yuki's bow on her dress, revealing that she is in fact a winter faerie. The story closes with a silent prayer from Shar because things just got a whole lot more sinister for the fate of Avalon.
Did I miss anything that is too important to leave out? Did this help remind you of what happened for the next book?

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
