Book Tunes (1)

When I was doing my Sequels month I always posted a playlist about the book I was reading and really liked doing it. I enjoy associating music to novels because I truly feel like every art inspires the other.

Book Tunes is a new meme that will be held on Fridays and the point is to share the book your reading and a song you think represents it. Be sure to include the novel you are reading, the summary, the song you think fits it and an explanation of why you chose that particular song. Also, make sure you link back here and you are welcome to use the button.

Summary from Goodreads:

Being only half-vamp in a high school like Carpathia Night makes you awhole loser. But Danny Gray manages to escape the worst of the specists at his school. Thanks to genetic treatments he had as an infant, most people assume Danny's other half is human. Which is a good thing.

Ever since the development of synthetic blood – SynHeme – vamps have become society’s elite, while wulves like his father work menial jobs and live in bad neighborhoods. Wulves are less than second class citizens; once a month they become inmates, forced to undergo their Change in dangerous government compounds.

For Danny, living with his vamp mother and going to a school with a nearly all-vamp student body, it’s best to pretend his wulf half doesn’t even exist. But lately Danny's been having some weird symptoms — fantastic night vision; a keener-than-usual sense of smell; and headaches, right around the full moon.

Even though it's easy to be in denial, it's hard to ignore evidence. There's only a month until the next few moon, and Danny's time is running out.

Tune:
I'm So Sick By Flyleaf

I will break into your thoughts
With what's written on my heart
I will break, break

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness

I'm so sick
I'm so sick

If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out
So you'll shut up and stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness

I'm so sick
I'm so sick

Hear it, I'm screaming it
You're heeding to it now
Hear it, I'm screaming it
You tremble at this sound

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness

I'm so, I'm so sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness

I'm so
(I'm so)
I'm so sick
(I'm so sick)
I'm so
(I'm so)
I'm so sick
(I'm so sick)

Why that tune:

I'm not too far in this novel but Danny's frustrated. All around him people are telling him to deny half of himself because it isn't good enough. People treat wulves like crap and when he tries to stand up for them, everyone attacks him. So basically, he's fed up with the attitude and I have a feeling this is going to escalate even more as the novel goes on. "I'm So Sick" really communicates for me how Danny is feeling about the world. "I'm so sick, infected by where I live" is really the star line of lyric here. He's bred to hate his dad's side of his genes and he's trapped in a world that belittles him if he doesn't.

So what a tune to your latest read?

  1. Nice, I love finding songs that fit books. There was another blogger that used to post some...but they didn't do it all the time. I can't really think of a song for what I'm reading right now. I need to think about that!

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
