Cover Alerts: Infinityglass, The Dream Thieves and Across a Star-Swept Sea

Infinityglass by Myra McEntire

Gorgeous, am I right? This entire series has had awesome covers so I'm not surprised to see how interesting this one is. I think the pose is so poetic and beautiful. The only thing that is a little off to me is the red dress and teal background. Not one of my favorite color combos but it isn't enough to make me dislike it. I love!

Holy cover love! I think this is my favorite cover I've seen this year. Everything from the water splashing up to the gorgeous dress to the light blonde hair makes this cover magical. It's ultra girly and beautiful for it. I'm in hearts and kisses with this one.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

Yup guys. I realize that summary is a whole lot to go on. I mean, how can they tell the entire plot in one sentence? Oh wait, they can't. But look at that cover. I'm not usually a fan of drawn covers but this one is epic. I love that the bird are being absorbed by/coming out of him. The only thing I wish is that the title of the novel was bigger than the author's name but other than that, this is all kinds of awesome!

Cover Alerts: Deception, The Chaos of Stars, The Falconer and more

A boatload of covers have popped onto the web recently and it is so my job to show you all these lovelies. So look onto these covers and be amazed!

Deception by C.J. Redwine

I love this cover. The first one depicted Rachel as fearless and strong but this one looks a lot more vulnerable. Her face is still determined and I still wouldn't mess with her but the pose is a lot softer. I also love the dark color. A total winner for me!

The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White

Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up. 

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

I'm not usually a fan of books with just the title on them but I think this one was done really nicely and is going to look stellar in person. I love the deep blue night background and the gold lettering. Another win for me.

The Falconer by Elizabeth May

I'm not sure if this is bad ass or corny so I'm going to say it falls somewhere in the middle. While the girl in the dress looks kind of silly, I also think she looks pretty killer with her steampunk-like gun and sword and the explosion behind her. I'll take it.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

This one I'm filing away in the chin scratching category. While I think the idea is cool because the hand looks dead and I love that the title of the book is tattooed on the hand, I'm not sure there is anything exciting about the hand. I wouldn't run over to this book on the shelf because it was beautiful. But I would run over because it's odd. I don't think that's a bad thing because I'd still take a look.

The Night Itself by Zoe Marriott

I'm in love with this cover. I love the drawn style of it and even the odd swirling pink tentacle things. This is just all sorts of right for me.

This cover is okay for me. I think it looks similar to the other books which is great but you also must realize that I'm a Whovian. As a Whovian, I'm terrified of angel statues so I really try not to look at this one.

The Oathbreaker's Shadow by Amy McCulloch

This cover looks a lot like something found in the adult fantasy which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I love the guy's pose and the really cool weapon. Plus the background is awesome. I think the only thing I don't like about this one is it's not really my taste but that doesn't make it bad.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

The Bone Season begins in 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. She works as an envoy between secret cells: she drops in an out of people's minds. I have got to stop saying things in this post because I keep proving myself wrong. I say I don't like covers that only have the title but I love this one too. The symbol behind the book is just understated enough to be interesting and I love that this is a book a boy wouldn't mind carrying around too. Love it!

Thornhill by Kathleen Peacock

I'm not super impressed with this cover. Nothing about it jumps out at me which is sad because I really liked the first one.

Teardrop by Lauren Kate

I guess they decided to stick with what works for this author and that would be beautiful dresses. However, I think this might be the most beautiful dress I've seen. Everything about this cover is girly and gorgeous  I love it. I'm especially surprised and happy they made her skin disappear into water. So interesting!

The Retribution of Mara Dyer is the last book in the Mara Dyer Trilogy.

That lights kind of dim really low and the chorus of angels hits all their best notes every time I look at this cover. I've always loved the Mara Dyer covers but this one blows the other two out of the water. I love that they have progressively gotten lighter and this one draws my eye all over the place. Just yes please.

Also, I can has yesterday because really Michelle, that ending slapped my face and it is still stinging.

Mistwalker by Saundra Mitchell

I love that this cover captures the sort of dreamy, dreary feel of summary and the small Maine town while also managing to look a bit magical. At first I thought the girl's pose might be weird but I like that it looks like she stopped mid-walk and noticed the lighthouse. I'm digging this one.

Control by Lydia Kang

Sadly, I think this cover is pretty awful. I guess it's boy friendly but it doesn't exactly jump out of me as something I have to have. Luckily, the summary does and the fact that Mary Lindsey (Shattered Souls) is excited about the release. Yay!

Invisibility by Andrea Cremer

Yup, I'm super in love with this one. I think it's the teal colors of the lettering coupled with the awesome yellow background. Something about it looks fresh and hip though Christina over at A Reader of Fictions did point out that the girl's outfit is pretty awful.

This cover is gorgeous. I love that they made the background look like rice paper and painted the girl's face, flowers and title to look like traditional Japanese art but also a bit like graffiti. I'm in love with one all over!

At first I wasn't actually a fan of this cover. It felt too busy for me. There was no where for my eye to go but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I like that it looks like she's in a foreign place and she's slowed down for a drink and to enjoy the view. And since this a book so centered around time, I also really like that her watch is a focal point. I do wish the title was as big as the author's name. Or maybe that the title and author's name were switched.

Pantomime by Laura Lam

I saw the first version of this because Strange Chem put it out and I wasn't that impressed. However, I love the tweaks they've made and I think that circus tent background is absolutely stunning. I also really like the model's focus stare. Some model's just look out of it but this one looks alert and focused which makes her eyes stand out. I do wish that the colors weren't so faded though. It'd make this cover a slam dunk for me.

Uses For Boys by Erica Lorraine Scheidt

I know kissing covers make some people uncomfortable but I'm not one of them. I don't think this kiss looks passionate but I do think it looks sweet and tender. Maybe it's the Christmas lights strung around them or that they body language isn't all coiled up but this just seems sweet to me. Even the matching outfits works. I love it!

So don't get me wrong, I think this cover is awesome. It's interesting to look at and I love the somber grey background. The problem is I was really digging the old cover. It had an Anna Dressed In Blood sort of animated feel with the girl standing at the top of the stairs. I thought it was creepy in the best of ways. I wish they hadn't changed it but since they did at least it's a pretty good change. A little less interesting but not bad.

This cover doesn't make me need the book right now. I wish it did but it just isn't as interesting as it could be. I do like the detail that went into the amulet though. I'm not sure about the mix of that lime green and dark red background.What are your thoughts?

I'm never sure what to do with sci-fi covers. Things that haven't really been invented yet do pose a problem. As far as covers go, I think this one is pretty good. The deep purple and blue colors would catch my attention on the shelf and I'd have to grab this one!

If I Should Die by Amy Plum

The final book in Amy Plum's Revenant series.

If I Should Die is out May 2013 by Atom UK.

This cover works beautifully with the other two and might actually be my favorite for one simple reason. I love how the swirling header interacts with the model in this one, wrapping around her. I wish it wasn't in a heart around the title but I think on the model and the author's name is beautiful and I love the golden and orange coloring.

My Sister's Reaper by Dorothy Dreyer

Nothing on this one yet as far as summary but we do have a cover to go with. Christina over at A Reader of Fictions said in her Cover Snark post that the model got out of the "K Stew school of acting" which is hilarious! It works too because K Stew is infamous for biting her lip and what do we have here?

In all seriousness, I do actually like this cove. I think the colors are creepy, the splash of blood around the author's name is a great touch as well as the bloody hand prints on the wall. I also like the idea that while she'd looking down as she is going up, the reaper is waiting for her.

This Is What Happiness Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith

I actually really love this cover. The yellow is so beautiful and mixes really interesting with the black and white on the lake. I love how their hands are combined with a patch of sunlight coming through and then the rest of the sun is drawn in yellow. It's too cute. Perfect for what it's about.

I actually really love this cover. It's simple in a way that draws the eye and I love the tiny specs of snow coming done. It makes me think of the cold, somberness and blue which I think is exactly right.

Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black

I think this cover is stunning. This is actually a re-release of the first cover which had a simple tan background. This one makes the red pop so much better and the mist and black adds a lot of intrigue. What really get ms though is the stance of the model. She looks like she is just giving up, hands outstretched and head thrown back as the petals explode off her. Love, love, love it.

Today, I've got a really awesome treat for you guys. Eep, holy cow and fantastic! Told you this cover was something to go crazy for. I am so in love with how the title is displayed like it's woven into the gate and the background is pretty amazing too! They used my favorite color (red), threw in some rose petals to really pop the white in the dress and made the model look like a dream. Wanna know the even better part? This novel is a modern retelling of Frankenstein!

The cover for Clockwork Princess has come out today and it is a beauty! Check it out:

I'm not usually a fangirl over these covers but holy crap, this might be the most beautiful cover I've ever seen for these books. Maybe my favorite this year. Everything is perfect from the light shining from the open book to the deep red of the period dress to the gorgeous up do and ethereal look on the mode's face. This is just perfect all around and I could stare at it for week's and not get bored. In love, round of applause, heck yes on a stick!

Cover Alert: Sever by Lauren DeStefano

Today, the final book's cover in the Chemical Garden Trilogy has been released onto the web. Check out Sever and tell me what you think.

This is a fascinating choice. I'm not at all sure what to think of it. For some reason, the green background really threw me off. I like that it keeps the same elements of the last two covers and that it has lines to the bird and ring. I'm also glad to see that the bird has escaped it's cage. I'm not sure if this cover is as beautiful as the last two though. I think it might have something to do with the color of green. It looks like a green screen to me and after the rich deep blue of the first book, I think I'd like something darker.

Today, the cover for Tahereh Mafi's second novel in the Shatter Me series was debuted. Take a look at the gorgeous cover for Unravel Me and marvel!

There is no synopsis yet but it's going to be a continuation of Shatter Me. I can't wait to find out what happens to Adam and Juliette.

I've got to say, I'm in love with this cover too. I've never been shy about not loving the first cover for Shatter Me because it just wasn't anything special in my book. This totally didn't match the awesomeness that was underneath. This cover seriously blows my mind. It's so simple yet is breathtaking. Check out the release of Shatter Me in paperback next to Unravel Me!

In case you are wondering, I love these so much that we can totally go steady. The first book is killer, the author is amazeballs and Unravel Me is something that you need.

We can all get our grubby little hands on a copy of Unravel Me on February 5th 2013 thanks to HarperCollins.
