TEAser Tuesday (27): Bumped by Megan McCafferty

TEAser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along, just do as following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include any spoilers so as not to ruin the book for others!
Make sure to share the title and the author so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR piles!

Bumped by Megan McCafferty

"On any other day, I could just let this go. But today isn't an ordinary day, what with Harmony in hiding at my house and my parents trying to pimp me out and everything. I swar, if it weren't a felony, I'd smack Ventura AND her adorable six-month bump."

--Pg. 108 of "Bumped" by Megan McCafferty

Zomgosh! This book is so great. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it. I'm reading it for an event coming up in the next month. More info in it later.

So what's your teaser?

Cover Envy (18): Goddess Test & Supernaturally

It's that time of week again! I'm showing another couple of covers that make me green with envy and stuck sitting on my hands until the novels they cover come out.

I hope you enjoy!

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter- This cover instantly evokes the word lush. The plant life around the model is such a rich green color and really works to accentuate her white dress. I love the modern take on the Greek dress and her shoes fit perfectly. Even the design at the top right hand and bottom left hand corner speaks Greek. This cover is gorgeous!

Goodreads Summary:

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

If she fails...

The Goddess Test comes out April 19th from Harlequin Teen.

Supernaturally by Kiersten White- What I love about this cover is it instantly brings to mind Paranormalcy so I know this is part of that series. I like that they used the same model and that soft look on her face is just wonderful. I am so in love with this wine colored theme and I want that dress now.

Goodreads Summary:

Life's never fair when faeries are involved.

The sequel to Paranormalcy.

Supernaturally comes out August 30th from HarperTeen.

So what do you think of these two great covers?

Saturday Discussions (2)

This week, I wrote a pot talking about how Maggie Stiefvater read my review for Linger and was touched enough to shot me a quick note. I mentioned how this was one of the most rewarding things about blogging. But there are so many wonderful things about it.

So this week's question: Why do you blog?

Here's a short rundown of why I blog:
  1. To put my opinion out there. I was a journal type of girl in high school but journals are lonely and are completely one-sided. It makes sense to want to reach out.
  2. To find like-minded people. And find people I have! The blogger community is so friendly and I've "meet" so many wonderful people.
  3. To put myself out there. My goal in life is to get published. I figure if people know a bit about me, then that's a great platform.
  4. To share my love of reading. 'Nough said.
  5. To meet the wonderful people who write these books I fall in love with. I didn't know about this one at first but I'm so glad I found out.
  6. To find new reads.
  7. To master the section I love!
I'm sure there are more reasons I blog but these are the few I can think of. So tell me, why do you blog?

Cover Alert: Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Look at this little beauty! The brand new cover for Supernaturally by Kiersten White, the second in the Paranormalcy series. I love, love, love this cover. Red is my favorite, especially that deep red of the dress she is wearing! This is a total stunner!

Summary Goodreads:

Janie thought she knew what her future held. And she thought she’d made her peace with it. But she can’t handle dragging Cabel down with her.

She knows he will stay with her, despite what she sees in his dreams. He’s amazing. And she’s a train wreck. Janie sees only one way to give him the life he deserves: She has to disappear. And it’s going to kill them both.

Then a stranger enters her life — and everything unravels. The future Janie once faced now has an ominous twist, and her choices are more dire than she’d ever thought possible. She alone must decide between the lesser of two evils. And time is running out. . .

The Tune: Pressure by Paramore

The Lyrics:
Tell me where our time went
And if it was time well spent
Just dont let me fall asleep
Feeling empty again

Cause I fear I might break
And I fear I cant take it
Some night I'll lie awake
Feeling empty

I can feel the pressure
its getting closer now
We're better off without you
I can feel the pressure
its getting closer now
We're better off without you

Now that I'm losing hope
And theres nothing else to show
For all of the days that were spent
carrying away from hope

Somethings I'll never know
And I had to let them go
I'm sitting all alone
Feeling empty

I can feel the pressure
its getting closer now
We're better off without you
I can feel the pressure
its getting closer now
We're better off without you

Without you

Somethings I'll never know
And I had to let them go
Somethings I'll never know
And I had to let them go
But I'm sitting all alone
Feeling empty

I can feel the pressure
its getting closer now
We're better off without you

Feel the pressure
its getting closer now
You're better off without me

Why This Tune?:

Janie is so tightly wound she's about to pop. I'm halfway through the novel and she has more problems than I know what to do with. This song describes her situation perfectly. Even the bit about lying awake a night. Janie does this often though perhaps not exactly for the reasons expressed in the song.

So what's a good tune for your latest read?
