Harper visits Alex and they go for a walk together so they can talk about Gemma and catch up. They go through a wooded path and see Logan's dead body and report it to the police. At the same time, Gemma decides to confront Penn and the other sirens about the darker part of their nature. Penn tells Gemma that a man will never love her and Gemma tells Penn that Alex is does. Before they can talk much further, Gemma notices the commotion on the beach and Penn leaves. Later that day, Gemma says with Alex to confort him and Harper stays at home. David comes by Harper's house to offer his sympathies and together with Harper's dad, they all have breakfast.

Gemma decides to speak to her mother about the possiblity of coming to a siren because she feels like her mother is the only one that will understand. Harper takes Gemma to visit their mother and she tells her mother about the siren's offer. Either Gemma goes with them and does terrible things (since she knows the sirens had something to do with Logan's murder) or she stays here and dies. Her mother encourages her to go so that she can survive. Gemma decides that she must go with them and tries to have one last good day with her father and Harper. Harper suspects Gemma is up to something but has no idea when Gemma slips out and tries to run away. Alex catches her and she tells him not to follow her.

Alex wakes up Harper with the news that Gemma has run away. Together, they go to the bay and find David in his boat. They ask him to take it out on the water to look for Gemma. While they are doing that, Gemma makes her way to Bernie's island where the sirens are ransacking the house. Gemma decides she can't go with them, especially when they admit to killing people and Penn tells Thea and Lexi to call for the nearest man. David, Alex and Harper are out on the water, and Alex jumps in to swim after the song. Lexi puts Alex under the watersong and brings him into the house. She decides it doesn't matter if Alex can never love her because she loves him and runs to kiss him which breaks the spell. Penn transforms into a large bird like monster which gives her a large amount of strength.

Harper and David land on the island and grab a pitchfork before charging into the cabin. Penn goes to attack them but Gemma swears she will do whatever the sirens ask of her if they leave her friends and family alone. Penn accepts this and transforms back into herself after slamming David to the ground. Grabbing Gemma's arm, Penn runs them out to the dock and jumps into the water. Harper follows after them as quickly as she can but can't keep up and sees Gemma transform into a siren with a tail. David stops her from jumping in after Gemma but Harper vows to get her sister back at any cost.
