In My Mailbox 90

In my mailbox is a weekly meme created by The Story Siren that encourages other book bloggers to share what they bought, won, begged for or borrowed. It is usually held on Sundays!

I didn't get anything bookish this week but I did receive two cool things I'd like to share with you!
I bought my hubby this really funny shirt from Shirt Woot. He wore it today and it made me smile all day long.

  • Guild Wars 2 computer game

My hubby and I also both pre-ordered a copy of Guild Wars 2 and have been playing that pretty much all day on Saturday. For those of you who don't know, Guild Wars 2 is a computer based MMO and we are really loving it. If you're into that sort of thing, I'd highly recommend it!

Those are what I got this week. How about you?

A Fairy Tale In Photos- The Frog Prince

Every Friday, I tell you a fairy tale exclusively through photos! Each week is a different theme and I search through Deviantart to find you the best of the best--whether they be pretty or spooky. All are welcome here! None of these photos are mine and you can always find a link to the proper owners underneath the photo in the caption area!

So this week's fairy tale is The Frog Prince which taught us that if you kiss enough frogs, one day you'll prince will appear. I love most of these photos and I hope you'll take a seat, pucker up and take a gander!

I was really not expecting to find such an array of stunning photos. It's makes this part so much harder. The first one I love is 10. I like that the colors are so vibrant and different from the rest of them. The bright blue of the water mixed wit the girl's fiery red hair is perfect! I also think 13 is adorable. A very simple representation of it. Finally, I can't look away from 17. I think it's that helpless look on his face and his hand.

Which are your favorites?

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Movie First Photos

You might have just heard of a little book turning into a movie called City of Bones written by Cassandra Clare. Well, filming started on it a few days ago in Toronto and you can bet people have been on set snapping photos. Another thing that you'll be able to tell from these photos? The casting is perfect and the studio wants to do this movie right. I hope you'll see what I mean by checking out the photos of the cast below dawning their character's clothes.

First up, we've got Clary (Lily Collins) and Simon (Robert Sheehan):

With a cast also including Lena Headey (Jocelyn Fray), Johnathan Rhys Meyers (Valentine) and Godfrey Gao, I'm willing to bet this movie is going to be a smash. They've loaded it up with talented actors and so far, I can't see how they've gone wrong.

I'm completely jazzed by the photos I've seen so far. Seeing Bower in his Jace costume has definitely convinced me that he is right for the part. Instead of being so handsome its dizzying, he actually looks a little rough around the edges (though still handsome) which makes him more interesting in my opinion. I've never had a problem with Collins as Clary because I think she's great and every movie she's already been in has shown her potential. Plus, she looks awesome as a Shadowhunter!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is due out August 23, 2013 and this blogger has just marked out her calendar for the midnight premiere!

What do you guys think?

Finally Finnick Odair Casting Announced for Catching Fire

We've officially got our Finnick Odair for Catching Fire and his name is Sam Calflin. There has been a lot of speculation about this role but I was pretty sure he was going to get the part a few weeks ago when they said he'd auditioned several times and had cleared his schedule around the dates of Catching Fire. Finnick is my favorite character in the series so I've been watching the audition info very closely. I have to say, I'm not upset...

You're going to know Calflin best for his role in Snow White and the Huntsmen as that guy Snow White was supposed to be kissed by or in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, i.e. they should have stopped with the first three. He also played in Pillars of the Earth.

You can check out an "official" article here at The EW.

What do you guys think of the casting? I think he's going to do a really good job and am very excited to see him take on the role.

Waiting on Wednesday: Spies and Prejudice and The Loop

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you can post about upcoming books you're looking forward to. This is a wonderful chance for blogger to show off what's coming out soon that they are excited about! Every week my wishlist balloons thanks to this awesome meme.

Spies and Prejudice by Talia Vance
Fields’ Rule #1: Don’t fall for the enemy.
Berry Fields is not looking for a boyfriend. She’s busy trailing cheaters and liars in her job as a private investigator, collecting evidence of the affairs she’s sure all men commit. And thanks to a pepper spray incident during an eighth grade game of spin the bottle, the guys at her school are not exactly lining up to date her, either.

So when arrogant—and gorgeous—Tanner Halston rolls into town and calls her “nothing amazing,” it’s no loss for Berry. She’ll forget him in no time. She’s more concerned with the questions surfacing about her mother’s death.

But why does Tanner seem to pop up everywhere in her investigation, always getting in her way? Is he trying to stop her from discovering the truth, or protecting her from an unknown threat? And why can’t Berry remember to hate him when he looks into her eyes?

With a playful nod to Jane Austen, Spies and Prejudice will captivate readers as love and espionage collide.
Spies and Prejudice is out 2013 by Egmont.

Sometimes I'm just in the mood for something adorable and this sounds exactly like something I've got to have. I love Pride and Prejudice so add spies and I am totally there!

The Loop by Shandy Lawson
Ben and Maggie have met, fallen in love, and died together countless times. Over the course of two pivotal days—both the best and worst of their lives—they struggle again and again to resist the pull of fate and the force of time itself. With each failure, they return to the beginning of their end, a wild road trip that brings them to the scene of their own murders and into the hands of the man destined to kill them.
As time circles back on itself, events become more deeply ingrained, more inescapable for the two kids trapped inside the loop. The closer they come to breaking out, the tighter fate’s clutches seem to grip them. They devise a desperate plan to break free and survive the days ahead, but what if Ben and Maggie’s only shot at not dying is surviving apart?
The Loop is out April 2013 by Hyperion.

Can we say hell yes? This looks like a story that I'm going to love. I've always been fascinated with time and fate and this one seems to play with both of those elements. Definitely a must-have for me!

What are you waiting for this week?

Happily Ever Endings...Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
New soul
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.
No soul
Even Ana's own mother thinks she's a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she'll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
Heart
Sam believes Ana's new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana's enemies--human and creature alike--let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else's life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?
Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.
