Waiting on Wednesday: Vengeance Bound, Fade to Black and The shadow Girl

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you can post about upcoming books you're looking forward to. This is a wonderful chance for blogger to show off what's coming out soon that they are excited about! Every week my wishlist balloons thanks to this awesome meme.

Vengeance Bound by Justina Ireland
The Goddess Test meets Dexter in an edgy, compelling debut about one teen’s quest for revenge… no matter how far it takes her.
Cory Graff is not alone in her head. Bound to a deal of desperation made when she was a child, Cory’s mind houses the Furies—the hawk and the serpent—lingering always, waiting for her to satisfy their bloodlust. After escaping the asylum where she was trapped for years, Cory knows how to keep the Furies quiet. By day, she lives a normal life, but by night, she tracks down targets the Furies send her way. And she brings down Justice upon them.
Cory’s perfected her system of survival, but when she meets a mysterious boy named Niko at her new school, she can’t figure out how she feels about him. For the first time, the Furies are quiet in her head around a guy. But does this mean that Cory’s finally found someone who she can trust, or are there greater factors at work? As Cory’s mind becomes a battlefield, with the Furies fighting for control, Cory will have to put everything on the line to hold on to what she’s worked so hard to build.
Vengeance Bound is out April 2nd 2013 by Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers.

It sort of feels like this novel was tailor made for me. I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology and I LOVE Dexter so I can't wait to see where this one goes!

Fade to Black by Francis Knight
Mahala: a city built in the dark depths of a valley. A city built up in layers, not across – where streets are built upon streets, buildings balance precariously upon buildings. A city that the Ministry rules from its lofty perch at the sunlit summit & where the forsaken lurk in the shadowy depths of the Pit.
Rojan is a bounty hunter trying to make his way in the city. Everyone knows he’s a womaniser, a shirker of all responsibility, but they don’t know he’s also a pain-mage: able to draw magic from his own & other people’s pain. He’s not keen on using it (not least because it’s outlawed), but when his niece is abducted and taken to the dark depths of the Pit, he may just be forced to unleash his power . . .
Fade to Black is out February 7th 2013 by Orbit.

This is one of those mind-blowingly good concepts that feels fresh even though magic through pain isn't something brand new. I can't wait to check out this book!

The Shadow Girl by Jennifer Archer
Sometimes I forget for an hour or two that she’s with me. Sometimes I convince myself that she was only a dream. Or that I’m crazy. But then, for no reason I can name, I’m instantly aware of her company, or I hear her whisper in my head. And that’s when I remind myself that she’s been there all along, as constant as my heartbeat.
For as long as Lily Winston can remember, she has never been alone. Iris, a shadowy figure who mimics Lily’s movements and whispers secrets in her ear, is with her always—but invisible to the rest of the world. Lily has never told anyone about this shadow girl, and has come to accept Iris’ presence as a comforting constant in her otherwise isolated life.
But everything changes on the morning of Lily’s seventeenth birthday. Her father is killed in a terrible accident. Her mother sinks into a deep depression. And suddenly, Iris begins twisting herself more and more into Lily’s everyday life, possessing her thoughts and urging her to put together the pieces of a puzzle her father left behind. The only person Lily can confide in is Ty Collier, a mysterious boy who came to their small town in search of Lily’s father, and who seems to be harboring his own deep secrets.
As Lily searches for answers, she realizes that she and Iris are more intimately linked than she had ever imagined. Together, Lily and Ty must untangle a web of deception to discover the truth about the shadow girl’s past—and Lily’s own identity.
The Shadow Girl is out April 9th 2013 by HarperTeen.

I love the concept of a person that is exactly like you that follows you around like a shadow. It's the perfect blend of interesting meets creepy.

There are my picks. What did you choose this week?

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
