Happily Ever Endings... Frost by Wendy Delsol

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

Frost by Wendy Delsol
Wendy Delsol’s FROST, is the sequel to her YA debut STORK.

After the drama of discovering that she’s a member of the Storks, a mystical order of women endowed with powerful abilities, Katla Leblanc is finally settling into her life in chilly Minnesota. In fact, the ex-California girl even hopes for a white Christmas. But Katla’s wintry wish unexpectedly turns into the snowstorm of the century, drawing the attention of Brigid, a gorgeous environmental researcher with an amazing array of fur coats and an unusual interest in Katla’s boyfriend, Jack.
Inspired by Norse mythology and Hans Christian Andersen’s THE SNOW QUEEN.

Kat travels to Iceland with her Ami at the same time that Stanley and Jack go on their arttic expedition with Brigid. Kat is still uncomfortable with the way her and Jack said goodbye and his silence thereafter. In Iceland, she learns that her family is part of a long line of people linked to the selkies and that they are there during an even honoring them. A fortune teller and her rude daughter tell Kat her fortune, claiming she will suffer a great loss of love and will go on a journey where water will aid her and ice will be her foe. Later that night the daughter Jinky, confronts her and steals her rock runes.
When Kat gets home from the festival her mother informs her that Brigid and Jack have gone missing. Kat is upset and hears that strange music again. She follows it and sees a flash of red in the ocean but it cornered by Jinky who tells her she read her fortune again and that Kat must go with her or the world will suffer. Kat makes the journey with Jinky who goes to her grandmother on a remote island. There, her grandmother and Jinky help Kat go on three spirit journeies. The first shows Kat where Jack is going and how defeated he is with Brigid. The second has her meet one of the water people where she makes a deal that mirrors the legend of Leira, who was lended to a man for 7 years but had to be returned to the sea. Kat agrees.
On the last journey she sees the red headed girl from the ocean running away and wraps herself in the cloak which turns her into a seal. She travels to the Ice Realm where Jack is held captive. There she sees Brigid and an emotionless and gaunt Jack and hears them discuss the one snowflake there equals millions on earth. Jack is making snow so Brigid can invade earth and wipe out the world. Kat finds Jack on the top of the mountain and tricks him into following her to the exit. Before they can reach it, Brigid heads them off with her large cat. Thinking fast, Kat remembers the Yule Cat story Jack's grandmother told her and throws on the coat so Brigid's cat can't harm her. Then she plunges her knife into jack, removing the splinter in his finger.
With Brigid temporarily hurt, they hurry to the exit and Jack seals the entrance just in time. Kat wakes up in her bed the next morning to news that Jack has been found and a dirty nightgown. Back home, she is reunited with Jack and finds out her mother had her sister early. Her mother reveals she is naming her sister Leira as Kat's grandmother had said she must and that Leira was born with webbed feet. Kat realizes the deal she has made for her baby sister and swears to undue it. At her mother and Stanley's wedding, she finds out that Julia is pregnant (presumably with her dead son's soul) and Hulda shows up, worried about something. After a chat with Hulda, her and Jack dance until it's starts to rain. Kat looks out and realizes that with Jack, they will be able to adapt to anything together.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
