Happily Ever Endings... Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died. . .

Gwen decides to go to her school dance and dresses in the dress her mom picked out. At the dance, she is having a bad time until she dances with Logan who seems like he might kiss her until his date cuts in. Anger with herself and him, Gwen leaves the dance in time to see Morgan walking out of the dance in a zombie like state. Gwen follows her to the library and sneaks in behind. Inside she finds a prowler waiting for her. She also finally discovers who has been behind the attacks.

Jasmine reveals herself as the master mind behind her own faked death and everything since then, claiming her entire family are Reapers. She orders Morgan, whose blood has been spilled into the Bowl of Tears to sit down on the table to be sacrificed, explaining to Gwen that she found out Morgan and Jasmine's boyfriend Samson are cheating with each other on her. Jasmine concocted the plan but it backfired when she found out people didn't miss her after she was gone. After explaining this, Jasmine sics her prowler on Gwen.
Logan shows up and does battle with the prowler while Gwen tries to escape. Jasmine sets her sights on killing Gwen and in a moment of desperation. Gwen gets to the case with the odd sword in it and opens it. She can feel all the warriors who have held it before her, one being her very own mother. The sword comes to life in her hands and Nike, the goddess of Victory, comes down to reveal that gwen is her Champion, should Gwen accept like her mother did. Gwen asks if Logan will survive if she says no and Nike says he won't so she accepts.
With the sword, she is able to defeat Jasmine and tells the three teachers everything. Later, Professor Metis calls Gwen into her office and reveals that she and Gwen's mother were best friends and that she is Athena's Champion. She also tells Gwen that she will be taking weapons training with Logan. On the way out, Gwen tells Logan she likes him and Logan blows her off. She goes back to room and hangs out with Daphne who has become her really good friend at Mythos, finally feeling like she might belong.
Did I miss something important? Make sure to leave it in the comments. Are you excited for Kiss of Frost to come out?

  1. This is SUCH a great idea. I can't tell you how many times I have wished for this exact thing.

In regards to this book, I'm going to be reading KISS OF FROST in a few days, and I thought I remembered the ending of this one, but there are SO many things I forgot about (Jasmine's reason behind everything, and Gwen becoming Nike's champion). Thank you for this!!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
