Happily Ever Endings... I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies #1) by Pittacus Lore
In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.
I Am Number Four is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.
I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT.

John saves Sarah from the burning house but denies it when a reporter says two witnesses saw him. John swears to Henry that he didn't go in and Henri believes him but John has a bad feeling. The next morning, he goes to school and grabs a paper. He sees the story minus the radical theory that he saved Sarah and breathes a sigh of relief. He makes it to eighth period but gets called to the principal. There, the principal shows him the other article and he gets a piece of paper asking if he is number four. He jumps out the window and runs home to find Mark James sitting at the table demanding to know what he is. Henri follows him home so John runs out to go back to say goodbye to Sarah.
Sarah is in the school developing photos. John goes but says everything seems dark even though it's only 3 pm. The school is abandoned and he finds Sarah hiding in the photo room. They try to leave but the Mogadorian scouts have arrived. They hurry back into the school and hide. Six finds them in a classroom and makes them invisible. They meet up with Henri and Mark and lock themselves in the home ec room where they stash the Loric chest after Henri shows them the healing stone. They run for an exit but realize it's a trap and John tells Mark to go hide in the school with Sarah. The rest of the Morgandorians gets there and release two beasts. Henri confronts one and John believes he gets smashed but it forced to run through the woods.
In the woods, John fights several Mogadorian warriors and gets hit in the back with a knife. One of the beasts shows up and is about to eat John when Bernie Kosar shows up and morphs into a beast. John realizes he can communicate with animals and that Bernie Kosar is actually Hadley. There is a monster fight and Bernie Kosar is badly hurt. Mark saves John but they get split up and Henri finds John. Together, John, Henri and Bernie Kosar run to try and meet up with Sam and the others and get out. Another beast shows up on one side and warriors crowd around the other. John is able to convince the beast to fight it's masters but not before Henri gets killed. John blacks out after Sarah saves him.
John wakes up in a hotel room and finds Sarah. Sarah says that they went back and grabbed as much from his house that they could, including an envelope full of forged documents. He also finds a healing BernieKosar at his feet. Though Six was stabbed three times, she is recovering. John thanks Mark for carrying him off the football field and they make amends. John cremates Henri and then he, Sam and Six leave town. He and Sarah promise not to forget each other and to stay faithful. The last thing he sees is Mark and Sarah fading into the distance.

  1. Thanks for the refresher. I read Six's Legacy, so now I am totally prepared to start "The Power of Six".
I liked 'I am Number Four' but it did not blow me away. I have high expectations for the next book though!

  2. I've been meaning to start this series for a long time. I made the mistake of watching the film which didn't impress me much, but I've heard only good things about the book from friends and I really want to give it a try. I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
