Happily Ever Endings... Tempest by Julie Cross

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short summary of a series novel so that you are ready for the next in the series!

Tempest by Julie Cross
The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

Jackson's Dad shows up on their weekend getaway and when Jackson and Holly try to slip away they are cornered. The CIA brings Adam out and reveals they know everything so Jackson decides to question Dr. Melvin. Dr. Melvin reveals that the EOTs are cloning people and that Jackson and his sister are born naturally. He also tells him that he took eggs frm an EOT to create him and Jackson realizes it is the woman that looks like Courtney. Jackson then decides he is going to join the CIA and Adam fills Holly in on their CIA story, leaving out time travel. Holly and Jackson fall deeper into love. Later that night, Jackson's father calls him out to meet him and has Jackson jump to the past to see Eileen. Eileen is killed by the EOTs and is also revealed to be the woman who carried.

Jackson realizes his father was in love with Eileen and that his father took a bullet to save him. Jackson decides to trust him but he gets very sick from traveling. The next day, Jackson, Holly, Adam and his father go out on a boat and a storm starts. During the storm an EOT pops in and they fight him. Holly sees it and they tell her a little about time travel. They head for shore and see a little girl stuck. Jackson swims to her and recognizes the little girl that looks like Courtney. The little girl takes him to the future where everything is destroyed and tells him to trust his decisions. They both get to shore and he lets her go.

EOTs attack in the hotel and they have a shoot out. Jackson grabs hold of one of the EOTs and she sends them back in time and tries to run away. But he is able to catch her and forces her to bring them back. She brings them back on the hotel roof. Jackson mangages to scamper up and someone shoots the female EOT. The man that shoot Holly in the future that hasn't happened yet leads Holly on the roof and tells Jackson he wants Jackson to listen to his side. Jackson says he will and the man which ends up being Thomas, takes him to a future where everything is clean and beautiful and people get along. When Jackson gets back, he tries to convince Thomas they want the same thing but Thomas says he needs to test him and throws Holly of the roof.

Jackson jumps after her (re-creating the cover) and takes her through time to Central Park where Holly runs into another version of herself. Jackson time travels them back to the roof and they end up getting there safely. But Thomas is waiting for them and attacks Jackson again but Jackson is able to gain the upper hand and realizes he has the power to make EOTs not able to time travel. He sits on Thomas till his father comes and Thomas yanks out hair for DNA. Jackson connects that they use that hair to create the little girl he saved and lets Thomas go. He is shoot in the process. A few days later, Jackson and his Dad talk and Jackson decides to make Holly not even remember him. He does a full jump back to the day they meet and cancels out hteir meeting. Though he is sad, he knows he saved her life and for that, he has no regrets.
