Oh, hello there! Do we know each other? No?
Well, I'd like to!
One of my favorite parts about blogging is getting to know the community. Recently, I've been combing through my Google Reader and getting rid of blogs that no longer update on it. I realized that a lot of the bloggers I started out blogging with are no longer in the game. A lot of my "friends" have stopped. I feel like I've met a lot of wonderful people on here and Twitter (Shannon from Stalking The Bookshelves, Lori from Pure Imagination, KM from One Page At A Time YA Reviews, Angela from Reading Angel and many more) but I also feel like there are a lot of new blogs out there that I don't know.
So I'd like to get to know you. Please feel free to add your blog to the list below.
I'm not guaranteeing a follow or even a comment but I will visit your blog. I like getting to know other bloggers and the best way for me to do this is to see what you're all about. So introduce yourselves to me by leaving a link to your blog and maybe saying something in the comments. How about telling me your top five favorite books in the comments? I used to do stuff like this all the time but haven't in a while.
And while you are at it, maybe try to visit a blog on the list yourself? Why not spread some love?
This is a really great idea, Amber. :) I might have to do it myself once I'm finished with my finals. :)
ReplyDeleteMy five favourite books...oooh that's a tough one, but I can definitely think of five that I've absolutely loved. :D
1. Divergent by Veronica Roth ---seriously can't wait until Insurgent comes out...it's getting SO CLOSE! EEK! :D
2. Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton ---I really love this trilogy, the first two books are already out, and I'm so excited for the third one! It's such a unique series compared to so many of the others that I've read...plus, I love me some Finn! :D
3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare ---I can never decide which book I like best...so I usually pick COB because it's the first one I read. :) COLS also seriously close to coming out. May is gonna be an awesome month...since it also has my birthday in it. ;)
4. Black Heart by Holly Black ---Okay, this is totally the last book in the trilogy, but it's a standout as my favourite. I loved all three books, but I think this is probably one of the most satisfying ends to a trilogy, at least for me personally, so I absolutely loved BH. :)
5. Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton ---Yup, it's totally the middle book in the trilogy, but I actually really loved it! I loved Angelfire, too, but WotW really blew me away...and it left me desperate for the final book in the trilogy, but somehow I was okay with it...which is pretty rare for me. haha
I could have easily listed way more than five...I'm not very good at choosing my favourites, but those are definitely some of the 5 books that I love the most. :)
Once again, awesome idea, Amber, and I know what you mean about people not blogging anymore. I went through my Google Reader yesterday and noticed pretty much the same thing! Kind of crazy, but I guess that's the way the blogging world works.
Happy Reading! :)
Ambur
I definitely recognize you from around here! Your blog is so bright. I love it!
DeleteFive books is a tall order. The only reason I even asked is because I can (maybe do it--for this year at least). I'm looking forward to Insurgent as well!
:D Ya, I've commented a few times. :) Thanks! :D
DeleteThat it is, it's hard to pick only five! haha Thankfully Insurgent's release is getting so close! Less than a week! :D
Very good post! Your blog was the first book blog I've ever visited and was inspired to start my own, and yeah, I made one finally. I love your review too, they successfully convinced me to read related books. So, I will be happy if you stop by ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you and keep inspiring, Amber =D
You just made me blush... a lot. I don't really think of my blog as inspiring other people because it's just something I do daily. It really makes me feel wonderful to know that I had a (small) part in inspiring another blogger.
DeleteI dropped by your blog and am a new follower! I love the design with the glasses. So cute!
Wow,thank you so much for dropping by even following my blog. I'm really happy :D
DeleteOh and my 5 favorite series/books are (sorry I've skipped it) are Vampire Academy, Divergent, River of Time, The Mortal Instruments and The Night Huntress. There are still a lot of 'em (like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series) but I pick some I read recently :)
Hi Amber! I have to admit that, while I've been a longtime follower of your blog via RSS, it's been awhile since I've gotten out of my Google Reader and commented here. Thanks for giving me the perfect opportunity to do so! :)
ReplyDeleteNatalie, it really surprised me to see how many blogs I follow hadn't posted since like August of 2011. I couldn't believe it. I hoped over to your site and love the design. I'm not sure how new it is but it's really inviting!
DeleteThanks! Glad you liked it! :)
DeleteTop 5 books? Ooh, that's tough. I'm a huge Agatha Christie fan so And Then There Were None must be #1, that's for sure. I really liked The Public Confessions of a Middle-Aged Woman by Sue Townsend, The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher, Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and The Brightest Star in the Sky by Marian Keyes as well.
ReplyDeleteI always have many many favourites each year but these are the ones that would still make me interested, even if I read them for the 99th time. :)
I know, my question was a killer. I only asked it because I think I could do it. Well, if I could count series I could anyway. I've been a pretty longtime follower of your blog. I stumbled on it when it was Alice in Wonderland themed and HAD to follow!
DeleteI've been doing this as well. So many blogs that I looked up to are gone. :( But I keep finding fabulous new ones through Top Ten Tuesday! Plus, I have you, Shannon, Angela, and KM still around! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think I started following you through Lori's design blog. Once I decided to get a blog design through her I obsessively viewed her work on other blogs (and I still do!) and through her I've found so many wonderful blogs to follow. What a great post to introduce bloggers to each other! I probably really need to clean up my Google Reader...
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way. Lori does such incredible work and since she is in the YA scene, lots of YA blogs come to her so I always find new blogs to love.
DeleteI'll tell you, cleaning out the Reader is a lot of work.
Hello Amber!
ReplyDeleteI've been a silent follower for months now ^^ I'm not big on commenting but I'm here all the same lol
I'm a 26 years old Canadian blogger and I'm expecting my first baby anytime now (due date is today!).
My top 5 books, now that's a hard one... I'll g with top authors ok =P Richelle Mead, Jeaniene Frost, Rachel Vincent, Kristin Cashore, JR Ward and there are many more but hey you know how it is!
Have a rocking day =)
T
Thanks for stopping by! I used to be the same about commenting but then I realized that it is the only way to reach out to people.
DeleteI visited your site for a while. I love how in depth your reviews are. Thanks for dropping by and introducing yourself!
Great idea! I'm still pretty new to the game, so I'd love to "meet" more people!
ReplyDeleteEw, I just wrote a comment and then I realized I was signed in under the wrong ID and my comment was lost. Stink.
DeleteAnyway, I'm going to cheat and name my 4 favorite series, and a book. So 5....things....Picking 5 books is just too hard!
Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling)
Hunger Games trilogy (Suzanne Collins)
Farseer/Liveship Traders/Tawny Man trilogies (Robin Hobb) (3 trilogies, but all telling parts of the same story...sorry, that's cheating even more!)
Ender's Game/Shadow Series (Orson Scott Card) - again, two series, but part of the same story.
And the Princess Bride, because that's awesome all on its own.
Sorry I just named....29 books....instead of 5.
It's cool. I would cheat as well so I don't blame you. I mean, how is one supposed to pick a favorite Harry Potter novel?
DeleteI love your blog. I often let housework get a little piled because I'm reading or writing.
Heya! My name's Christina (as you can totes tell from my post, but whatevs) and I write A Reader of Fictions. I focus primarily on reviews and post quite a few times a week.
ReplyDelete:)
Thanks so much for introducing yourself. I stopped by and loved your review of Breaking Beautiful. I just started reading it this week!
DeleteHello! I am sarabara081 and I just opened my blog Forever 17 Books! I don't even know how to pick 5! I think I will go with my favorite series: The Divergent series is probably my favorite right now. I also love the Harry Potter books, the Twilight series, the Delirium books( need Requiem NOW- lol), The Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games series. I know that is 6 but I can't help it! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteI love Divergent too. Actually, I pretty much love all the books you mentioned though I haven't read Delirium yet. This is especially sad considering I have two versions of it. It's high on my list though!
DeleteThis is such a nice idea and really good to see other blogs I hadn't heard of before!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite books would be 'The Fault in our Stars' by John Green, 'The Truth About Forever' by Sarah Dessen and 'Shadow Web' by N.M.Browne. All books I would truly recommend :)
I have to say this is a great idea. I'm new to blogging. Just started on Monday actually though I've been a long time follower to this blog and several others. I've been afraid to put myself out there until recently. I'm always looking great blogs to follow and new friends.
ReplyDeleteAs for my top 5 favorite books, they change ALL the time. So the first five off the top of my head are,
1. Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade
2. The Hush, Hush saga by Becca Fitzpatrick
3. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kandare Blake
4. The Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon
5. Hereafter by Tara Hudson
Jenny @ My Scribbles and Me
Lots of good books on your list there! I fell in love with Anna Dressed In Blood.
DeleteCongrats on getting into blogging! I stopped by your blog and it is so cute. Thanks for dropping by and introducing yourself to me. Let me know if you ever have any questions!
I don't like ranking my books in top 5 or 10 or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI love so many books! I just like reading about a different world or a different life other than mine and as long as the story is great and it is well written, i like it :)
I love finding new bloggers and new blogs to follow--sometimes the "old" ones get stale or the blogger stops blogging or whatever. New is good! I have way too many "top" books. This year, it includes INSURGENT by Veronica Roth. So good.
ReplyDeleteHi Amber =] I visit your blog and comment but thought I'd introduce myself anyway XD
ReplyDeleteFive favourite books...
1. The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides
2. Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta
3. Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
4. Divergent by Veronica Roth
5. The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan
Great idea!
The Cait Files
This is such a great idea! After a while a lot of people fall out of the blogging world, but many more come into it. I'll add my link to the list. ^.^
ReplyDeleteHi Amber!
ReplyDeleteFive favourites
1. the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
2. the Narnia chronicles by C.S. Lewis
3. Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
4. the haiku of Basho
5. The Drake Family Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey
And many, many more, of course.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit new to the blogging world, but I was lucky enough to stumble upon your blog. I must admit your blog is one of my favorites and that I constantly check and recheck it because I love to hear what you have to say. (:
My favorite books (as of the moment) are:
1.The Night Circus
2.Divergent
3.The Demon King (well in all actuality I am loving the whole series as of now)
4.Daughter of Smoke and Bone
5.Nightshade
WOW Great idea Amber! I love your blog. I can't come by every day but I typically stop by and then visit/comment on a few posts while I'm here at one time. That seems to be how I have to go thru my reader - pick a few to visit daily, and visit about a week's worth at a time. Weird probably, but it works for me. Anyway, yeah, great idea. I could probably stand to clean out my reader too...
ReplyDeleteTop 5 books? SUCH A HARD QUESTION. Hmmm,
1. The Chaos Walking Trilogy
2. The Iron Fey Trilogy
3. Daughter of Smoke and Bone
4. The Night Circus
5. The Trylle Trilogy
Yeah, the series are cheating a bit, but you get the idea! :)
Hi! My names Tabitha, and I seriously love your blog. I think it was the first book blog I found online, and I started reading it over the summer when you did the YA Bachelor month... (I think that's what it was called). Anyways, I got the idea to start my own book blog afterwards and after months and months of putting it off I finally started one.
ReplyDeleteMy top 5 books? Hmm. That's a hard one.
1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
2. Into the Wild
3. Iron Fey Series
4. If I Stay/ Where She went
5. Anna and the French Kiss
What are your top 5 books? (:
This is such an AWESOME idea! I love that you are doing this. Meeting other bloggers is my favorite part of blogging. I hate that when I get busy, commenting and talking on twitter gets pushed aside too much. I really need to get back in the game. Hopefully, you will see me around more often :)
ReplyDeleteI've been a longg time follower of yours. ok lets talk books:
1) Hunger Games trilogy
2)Harry Potter series
3)Mediator series
4)Percy Jackson
5)Robert Langdon series
and man I could just keep going.
I guess I'm in the minority... as a dude keeping a book blog... Thanks for providing a list of other bloggers for me to look through.
ReplyDeleteMy five:
1. Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi
2. The Painted Boy by Charles DeLint
3. Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman
4. The Inferior by Peadar O’ Guilin
5. Once a Witch (book 1) Always a Witch (book 2)by Carolyn MacCullough
Five favorite books? That makes my brain hurt. I can tell you my five favorite authors. LOL
ReplyDelete1. Nora Roberts - If I had to pick a fave book of hers, it wouldn't even be one book. It would be the Circle Trilogy.
2. J.D. Robb - Yes, I know this is also Nora Roberts. Don't bug me or I'll send Eve after you.
3. Diana Gabaldon - Two words: Jamie Fraser
4. Laurell K. Hamilton- I love the all Meredith Gentry series, and the Anita Blake books in which something is going on besides just sex.
5. Stephanie Laurens - I love her Cynster series, but all her books are funny and sweet and great reads.
Obviously I have a thing for series. I get wrapped up in characters and I don't want to let them go. (Don't tell my therapist...)
