Happily Ever Endings... Matched by Ally Condie

Happily Ever Endings... was born out of sheer frustration. You know how when you read a series and you love it but the last book takes a little while to come out and then you sort of forget parts of the novel? That's what these posts are going to serve to remedy. Happily Ever Ending... is a short post about what happened at the ending of each book that is going to be in a series for people who need a quick reminder of what happened in the previous installment. I hope this saves someone else the frustration that I went through!

Matched by Ally Condie

Cassia has made her choice and that is to find Ky. After getting tested for her vocation by sorting the factory workers at Ky's work and putting Ky in the group to leave, Cassia feels like she can live with her choice. Yes, she will lose Ky but he will get the chance to live. Then she decides to tell Xander the truth... that she is falling in love with someone else.
Having kissed Ky on a mountian top and finally committing an Infraction, she wakes up early the next morning to screaming. Ky is lead away by a pack of Officials in manacles and it is known that he is going to be cannon fodder for a war the Society is losing on The Outer Provinces. Cassia is distraught and chooses not to take the red pill which cause people to forget.
Cassia's family is moved to the Farmlands and she realizes how many other families have just disappeared thanks to the red pill. Before she leaves, her Official confims that they set up the entire thing with her and Ky as an experiement but Cassia finds out that whoever put Ky's name in the Matching pool did it without the knowledge of the Society (or at least her Official). Also, Xander gives her the supplies she will need to find Ky and tells her to consider him as an option. She promises she will when she finally has the right to make the decision.
Her family doesn't remember what happened to Ky, only that he and his family are gone, but knows that she is in love with him and as a gift, they offer to help her. The novel ends with Cassia being sent to a work camp (at her parent's request) near the Outer Provinces, bidding her time until she hears the right words and can find Ky.
Remember something that I missed? Please leave a comment and let me know. Hopefully this helps someone else out there!

  2. Thank you so much for doing this. I usually keep notes on series. Because it drives me crazy trying to remember the details months or a year later. I just got an arc for Crossed. And for some reason forgot to leave notes for Matched. It is so frustrating. I really think that there should be a page at the beginning of the next book or somewhere. How are we supposed to remember?

  3. Can't believe I looked through the whole list of titles from the H.E.E. and this is the only book I've read on that list that has an ending! I need to get on reading some more series. I just started Crossed last week though and this helped so I didn't have to re-read the whole first book.

  4. Thanks for doing this! I was ready to give up on reading books in a series until all were out because I couldn't remember all the little details that mattered. You can only fit in so much on your private notes on goodreads too. Thanks I appreciate you doing this!!!

  7. I just found a link to your site that someone posted when I could not remember what happened in the first book before heading into the second. I had NO idea that there was anything available to help me remember. Fantastic idea! Thank you so much, you just made it so much easier for me rather than pulling the book out to read it again. :-)

  8. Thank you so much! I read Matched last year for summer reading (We could read whatever we wanted), and now this year, reading Matched is mandatory. I didn't want to reread it and I've been trying to find a summary. Thank you for this! This help a lot! :)

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
