Book Tunes (5)

Book Tunes is a new meme that will be held on Fridays and the point is to share the book your reading and a song you think represents it. Be sure to include the novel you are reading, the summary, the song you think fits it and an explanation of why you chose that particular song. So snag yourself a button, write a post and link up at the bottom of the page!

Goodreads Summary:
The missing dead call to Violet. They want to be found.
Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered—and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.
As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger.
The Tune: Noticed by Mute Math

The Lyrics:
Careful when you open
It's easy to be broken
In the strangest fashion
You start a chain reaction
When you look my way
Something's pounding away
And I wonder if I ever felt this before

And all this time oblivious to what you make so obvious
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before

You are reaching something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
At least it was never until I noticed...

You and your ways
Capture what I've misplaced
In the perfect fashion
Just watch my heart's reaction
This point of view is nothing that I'm used to
But I won't close my eyes cuz they're on to you

And all this time, it was staring me blind
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before

You are reaching something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
At least it was never until I noticed you

Whoaa-oh-oh-oh
Oh,oh

The only time I ever noticed my heart
Was when I noticed you
The only time I ever noticed my heart
Was when I noticed you, yeah
You, yeah
You, yeah!

1, 2, 3!

You are reaching something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before

'Til I noticed you, yeah
I noticed you, yeah
When I noticed you, yeah
You, yeah
When I noticed you, yeah
I noticed you, yeah
That's the only time I ever noticed my heart before

Why this tune?:

I'm not too far in this second novel but I feel like this song describes Violet in The Body Finder perfectly. She and Jay had been friends for so long that she never noticed how she felt for him until he threw it in her face and made her see. She was also going through some major bad things at the time-- what with a killer tracking her down. There's that scene in the woods where she is running from the person trying to hurt her and this idea of a racing heart comes to mind there too.

So what do you think of my choice?

  2. I participate in a meme similiar to this one! It's great fun matching up books with their musical counterparts. Here's a look at the meme I'm a part of.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
