It's that time of week again! I'm showing another couple of covers that make me green with envy and stuck sitting on my hands until the novels they cover come out.
I hope you enjoy!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkins- The combination ethereal, with of the bodies floating in water and creepy, the guy holding onto the girl like he's drowning her, really make this cover stand out. I love that they put the model in a white dress as it suggests innocence and then used the dark greenish gray background to wash out the white. My absolute favorite thing about this cover though is how her foot is placed on top of his. Gorgeous!
From Goodreads:
Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been
through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is out September 27, 2011.
The Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon- Holy moly, this is the kind of cover that's screaming at anyone who passes by on a shelf. Again, it looks like the model is underwater which gives it that ethereal feel and I love how her dress is made of the blue stuff underneath. It looks like she's busting free but it also seems like the blue gas is trying to pull her back down. I'm also in love with the fact that the lettering is white where it comes across her. Absolutely beautiful.
From Goodreads:
A move to Ireland is about to introduce Megan to her destiny, her real destiny, can she embrace it and will she survive it?
A tragedy in Megan’s past set her on a predetermined course. A chain of events has been set in motion that brings Megan to Kinsale, a small town in the south of Ireland where her destiny awaits her. Her life starts to fall into place as she makes new friends and settles into her new school. However, the reclusive and distant Adam DeRĂs calls to her body and soul.
She finds herself increasingly drawn to Adam and his strange family. Adam knows a secret from her past and he and his family hold the key to her future. A future that binds her to Adam and his world, a world of power, mystery and ancient orders. A world that unbeknownst to her, she very much belongs in.
The Carrier of the Mark will be out Fall 2011.
those are both beautiful, even though they are a little creepy too!
ReplyDeleteI actually read Carrier of the Mark on inkpop a while ago and I really liked it. I'm totally buying these when they come out!
