FCSS: Week 1: A Few of My Favorite Sequels

Here are a few of my favorite sequels in no particular order:

Darklight by Lesley Livingston- I love this series. The first novel had me enchanted and the second blew me away. It took the characters I loved and gave them an even better plot to explore. There were just enough questions answered to keep me reading and more to tempt me for the next novel.

Rebel Angels by Libba Bray- This entire series is enchanting. How can you not fall in love with Gemma Doyle and her crew of friends? Like the last sequel, this novel worked to expand the world set forth in the first one and answered questions while posing even bigger ones for the last novel. It was just as wonderful as the first!

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins- This is one of those very rare novels that was even better than the first for me. Hunger Games set up an amazing world but it felt small, centered around the one games. This one sets the entire world on fire and expands the fight to the entire nation.

Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder- Yelena is one of the most kick butt heroines I've ever encountered in literature so when she came back for a second novel, I was dying to get my hands on it. It didn't disappoint. Snyder was great at expanding her characters, the world and the plot to test these characters I loved so much!

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater- This novel took me by surprised. I loved Shiver but had no idea where it was going to go for this second installment. It ended up being so much better than I could have ever imagined. I loved being surprised every step of the way!

  1. Yes, I love Rebel Angels and Catching Fire! I haven't read Livingston's books, yet. I would like to check out Synder's first book. I love the cover of the second one. Great post!

  2. Oh, I agree about Catching Fire - I think I preferred it to the first as well. I liked having a balance between the setting of the arena and the larger setting of Panem, and also I really enjoyed the construction of the arena in this one.

  4. I loved Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2), it was as good as the 1st. All Harry Potter sequels were also awesome, each one better than the other!

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
