On my iPod: "Airplanes" by B.O.B. featuring Hayley Williams

With all the excitement of the new Halo Reach game coming out (on my husband's part, he invited his brother and his girlfriend over and insisted we be out at Walmart at midnight but I got a book out of the deal!) I completely lost track of time and forgot to post Cover Envy this Monday. Better late than never!

It's that time of week again! I'm showing another couple of covers that make me green with envy and stuck sitting on my hands until the novels they cover come out. I'm doing a series this week in honor of the soon-to-be release of the second novel!

Fallen by Lauren Kate- Look at this cover. Everything about it evokes a somber mood. The model is swallowed up in a blackness in her long ball gown and her head is in her hands. I can hear her soft sobs jumping off the cover. Also, the barren trees in the background suggest loneliness and sorrow. The dark color scheme of black and blues is attractive to look at and also speaks to this melancholy mood created. Everything works well with the title Fallen.

Torment by Lauren Kate- This cover does an amazing job of complimenting the previous novel cover while giving us something new and fresh. It's just as beautiful as the first yet the mood feels completely different. There is a lot of gray in the background suggesting possible brighter days if not just as confusing. The model is standing at full height with her fingers gripper her hair. Whatever sorrow the character previously had is still there but she has overcome it and is looking to the misty feature. Of course, this outlook doesn't compliment the title very well which is even more sad than the first but I think there is a lot of torment in the unknown and that is how I perceive this background.
